Ohhh, I Am That Type of Shopper

Yesterday I restrained myself from going to mall to avoid any dangerous act of wasting money a.k.a shopping. I was so proud of myself cause I have succeeded and went straight home. But sadly, I have failed miserably today. Today I went to watch Batman vs Superman movie with my office’s “movie gang” at Times Square. After the movie, on my way to the car park, I passed by “The Face Shop” store and saw the aloe vera gel stack, and thought – “Ohhh yea, I’ve been wanting to buy ONE”. So I picked that item and on my way to the counter which is only a few steps away, I saw a lip tint, and thought – “Ohhh the price is just nice so I should just grab one”. Then, a few of the Ohhh’s happened and I ended up buying 4 items instead -_-;

This has happened a few times already this year. Which is starting to worry me. I must admit, at times (or many many times), I shouldn’t think too much. This is like a self-reward, right? But if it is, why am I feeling guilty?? Then I tried to google a bit, and found some articles about the type of shoppers;

  1. The Bargain Shopper
    Shoppers who hunt for bargains. i.e. to buy items at the best prices.
  2.

  3. The Researcher
    Shoppers who love to learn everything they can about a product before purchasing.
  4.

  5. The Negotiator
    Deals are a must for bargain shoppers. To them, everything is up for negotiation.
  6.

  7. The Loyalist
    Shoppers who buys everything, from the same store. They represent no more than 20% of the customer base but make up more than 50% of the sales.
  8.

  9. The Man on a Mission
    Shoppers who are driven by a specific need. When they enter the store, they will look to see if they can have that need filled quickly. If not, they will leave right away.
  10.

  11. The Impulse Buyer
    Shoppers who cannot resist the temptation of buying things when seen. They do not have buying jewelry at the top of their “To Do” list but come into the store on a whim. They will purchase what seems good at the time.

    There is nothing more exciting than assisting an Impulse shopper and having them respond favorably to salesperson’s recommendations.

    All the product offerings residing near the checkouts are positioned there because they are ideal for impulse shoppers; They’re typically inexpensive and desirable, like bracelets, lighters and clearance items.

I personally think, we can become each of those type, depending on our need and certain situation. But I have to put the “impulse buyer” description longer than others here, because that is very me nowadays! Although I am a person who does my main budget each month and keep tracks of my spending, but that obviously won’t help much until I become more cautious BEFORE spending. I really think that I need to be more discipline, and be more self-restrained.
